Human Nature

Human Nature

Fiona:

This is my all-time fave song and for me it has a lot of meaning. I think that Madonna intended it to be directed not just to the press but to everyone who tried to stop her from expressing herself and doing what she wants to. Someone was bound to make a song like that someday and I'm glad Madonna did because even though it doesn't go over the top, this song touches some pretty universal truths. Like when she says "Would it sound better if I was a man?" she's trying to say that in the music business, men are allowed to be angry and write angry songs and women aren't and she's changing the rules...also when she says "absolutely no regrets" she means that you shouldn't regret any choices you make and that you should be strong and "express yourself, don't repress yourself".

Laura:

This is a great song. The language is a little rough , but really fits the attitude of the song. This song shows you to keep going and not hold back. Madonna always gave me the inspiration to keep going even if I fall a few times in the process!

Matt Bates:

In my opinion,Human Nature is about dealing with the obstructions and basic life itself. Madonna expresses herself towards life and the people in daily surrondings. when she says "im not your bitch, dont hang your'e shit on me,its human nature" clearly staits that she is fed up with being treated and looked upon like a toy or plaything. Another statement in the song is"did i say something wrong oops i didnt know i couldnt talk about sex(musta been crazy)" Signifies the fact that she has lost her free will of expressing her opinions and thoughts to the world.

I feel that Human Nature deals, in part, with the whold SEX era. I think in the song she's making fun of the media for being so petty with the whole SEX thing. She's saying 'I did this, i made this book, if you don't like it that's fine, just shut the hell up about it, thank you very much!'
SciFiRu835:

The song "Human Nature" was released just after Madonna's big sex craze, in which she must recieve a lot of critism for. I think the song is about how people have a right to a certain amount of mistakes. We're all only mortal and not everything we do is necessarily great. Madonna only did it for money and I'm sure she regrets it. But I think that people made too much of a big deal of the sex craze. A lot of other celebrities have done similar things, but they weren't critisized like Madonna was. I still can't figure out how it was so bad when she did it, but it didn't matter when other people did it. And some did it worse than she did it. I'm not saying that the sex craze was right, I'm just saying if people don't like when one person does something, they shouldn't like it when anyone else does it either. It's the action that matters, not the person. And Madonna is just letting off steam in the song "Human Nature".

Madonnaab:

I absolutely LOVE this song. It cracks me up. She is clearly speaking to the media and kind of making fun of them. She's letting them know they can't push her away, they can't try to silence her and they can't just make her fade away. She has a mind of her own. She is saying we are all sexual beings, what's so terrible about expressing that? She is also saying that even if she does things that upset them she is not doing it to please them anyhow it's for the fans, so they, (The media) should get off her back and quit criticizing her - "I'm not your bitch don't hang your shit on me". That line is great and it says so much.

Je'free:

In "Human Nature", Madonna is saying that everyone is a sexual being, and exposing this truth in artistic form is never a taboo. Don't be a hypocrite by denying this fact, and by placing your blame all on her. The song tells us to -- get REAL !!!

Karleen:

Hello, i"m a big fan of madonna. i want to say something about the song human nature. Wel te songtext is great. what she sing's is true about a lot of people. And i'm really mad about the people who critize her. she is a powerfull woman. whit a lot of guts i'm sorry but my englisch isn't very well.

Cherish:

I think this song is somehow dedicated to the written press and the critics who judge her without knowing her. It's incredible how she's saying 'I don't mind your opinion, I'm not sorry for what I did or said, I'm this way and you have to respect but if you don't I don't mind neither. I'm this way.'

There are some people who believe it's somehow dirty to talk about 'sex'. And as she said once 'Sex is only dirty if you don't wash' (I'm not sure if these are the exact words, I guess they aren't). I think this song is related to 'Express yourself' and less with 'Where life begins'.

The point I want to remark more is the message Madonna is sending out to us: 'Don't let others decide for you, express yourself, don't let the others repress you, do what you really want to do'.

When she says 'you punished me for telling you my fantasies' I think she's talking about the reaction press had when she released her 'Sex' book. And then when she says: 'Would it sound better if I were a man?' she's talking about sexism. I've heard lots of times (including in the mouth my own mother) that if a boy goes with a hundred of girls he's a 'Macho' (I'm Spanish) and if a girl goes with a hundred of men she's a 'Bitch'. I'm sure, as Madonna says, that if the 'Sex' book was published by a man it would be something fantastic and great.

Summing up and using Maddie's words: 'Express yourselves and don't repress yourselves'
